Riverside is an hour’s drive to the LA counties and the Orange County beaches, and is approx 30 minutes from the nearest mountains. The city is served by three main freeways- the State Route 91, the Interstate-215, and the State Route 60. Getting in and around Riverside is easy. The Riverside Municipal Airport is the only airport within the limits of the city. It has 5,400-foot runway and is the spot for the Riverside Air Show held annually. The airport is mainly used for business and private aviation. If you posses your own aircraft, then this airport offers convenient access to Riverside. This airport is not served by any commercial passenger flights. 

Another nearest airport is the LA/Ontario International Airport that is located in Ontario, CA. It is approx 20 miles NW of Riverside.  Travelers planning to come to Riverside must consider LA/Ontario International Airport as Riverside is situated in the Inland Empire, Southern California. The airport offers non-stop flights to several American cities. After reaching the Ontario International Airport, you can reach Riverside via the Southern California’s freeway system. Head East Interstate-10, then take Interstate-15 (South), followed by CA-60 (East).  Public transportation is also available from the airport to Riverside. Airport shuttle service and Riverside Transit Agency buses are available from the Ontario International airport.

Megabus.com: megabus.com offers express bus service to and from Las Vegas to Riverside. The fare starts at $1. 

Greyhound: Greyhound bus terminal in Riverside is between University Avenues, Downtown and Mission Inn. The buses run mostly on the domestic destinations.

Getting to Riverside by Train

Riverside is the center of the Metrolink commuter rail system. Inland Empire-Orange County lines and Riverside 91 serve the city on weekdays, and Inland Empire-Orange County lines and San Bernardino on weekends. 

The Metrolink station is approx one mile outside of the city center and is served by CommuterLink 212, 208 and 210, and RTA 1 and16. 

Rail Lines:  Riverside has two Metrolink commuter rail stations - La Sierra and Downtown Riverside. The Inland Empire- Orange County serves these two rail stations, while the Riverside Line serve the Downtown station on weekdays and on weekends, the Downtown station is served by the San Bernardino. 

Amtrak: Amtrak serves the Riverside Downtown station.

Public Transportation in Riverside

The Riverside Transit Agency is the major public transit authority in Riverside. It offers buses service on about 36 fixed routes in the city. It also provides eight express commuter services and some community-based trolley bus service in the city. 

The Riverside bus system has two major centers -the the Galleria at Tyler (south), and the Downtown Terminal. The base fare is $1.50. Local routes serve all the neighboring regions.

Bus Lines:  Riverside Transit Agency provides local bus service. Greyhound and Amtrak offers intercity bus service.
